Is ClappyBoard really free?
Yes. Marking takes, both clap sounds, the take log and the spreadsheet export are all free, with no limit on takes. Pro is a one-time purchase that puts your own production name on the board and keeps a separate board for each job.
Does it replace timecode?
No. ClappyBoard doesn't send timecode to your camera or sound recorder. It gives every take a sync mark: a white flash for picture, a clap for sound, and the time of day. When you sync sound by hand in the edit, that mark is what you line up.
Does it work without signal?
Yes. ClappyBoard works fully offline, including in airplane mode. It never needs an internet connection to mark or log takes.
Will the clap play if my phone is on silent?
Yes. The clap plays at full volume even with the ringer switched off. You can pick a recorded clapperboard or a 1 kHz beep.
Does it work on iPad?
Yes. ClappyBoard runs on iPhone and iPad with iOS 17 or later. A bigger screen is easier for the camera to read from across the room.
How do I get the take log to my editor?
Open the log and export it as a CSV file, which opens in any spreadsheet app. Send it by AirDrop, email or whatever your crew uses.
